The IIF Student Chapter, Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSATM, serves as an industry–academia platform for students interested in foundry engineering, casting technology, manufacturing, materials processing and allied areas.
Through the chapter, students are exposed to current developments in the foundry sector and have opportunities to interact with professionals from industry and professional bodies. The chapter promotes technical knowledge, industrial awareness, research orientation, employability skills and professional networking through expert talks, webinars, technical programmes and industry interactions.
The inaugural programme of the IIF Student Chapter brought together eminent professionals from The Institute of Indian Foundrymen – Bangalore Chapter and the Foundry & Forge Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), providing students with valuable exposure to professional foundry practices and industry expectations.
The DSATM–SAEINDIA Collegiate Club provides a professional platform for Mechanical Engineering students to explore developments in automotive engineering, mobility technologies, design, manufacturing and emerging engineering systems.
The Collegiate Club encourages students to move beyond classroom learning through interaction with professional engineers, participation in technical activities and exposure to industry-oriented engineering challenges. Activities are designed to enhance technical competence, innovation, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and professional readiness.
The Department maintains interaction with theSAEINDIA Bengaluru Section, enabling students to connect with the larger mobility engineering community and understand contemporary developments and career opportunities in the sector.

A significant interdisciplinary initiative is the National-Level Conference on “Convergence of Science, Technology and Management,” conducted in IEEE format, which provides a platform for students, researchers, academicians and professionals to present technical work, exchange research ideas and explore emerging developments across engineering, science, technology and management.
